“Routes to Art 2009” Barbara Fox

Artist Statement…
I paint in watercolors, in a highly realistic, yet moody and intense style. My subject matter is mostly floral, still life, portraits, but I’ll paint whatever catches my eye. My goal is to recreate the image faithfully and beautifully, but using colors and highlights that present the object in a new way….

Ellicottville is fortunate to be able to call such a talented and resourceful artist one of its own. Barbara and her husband live on Maples Rd 3 miles north of Ellicottville, the farm is the site of husband Bob Brachmann’s bee keeping business and also houses her studio. Barbara is an active volunteer at the Ellicottville Memorial Library.

Barbara was instrumental in forming the Creative Women’s Alliance; the group meets monthly at the Ellicottville Memorial Library. Formed in 2007, the CWA members are a mixture of painter’s photographers, potters, creative writers, etc, that reach out to each other for, creative ideas, wellness and empowerment. This is the second year that Barbara will take part in the CCAC’S Routes to Art; held On May 17 and 18, 2009; RTA is an open studio tour designed to showcase the wealth of regional artistic talent.
